ZTE annonced an Android-powered portable smart projector that features a 5 inches LCD touchscreen, the Spro 2, it will be available on the major electronic stores by the end this year. The device made its first appearance at AT&T shortly after the CES, you can get one for $360 under a two-year contract.
Also ZTE has a variant of the Spro 2 available on Verizon. For $600 but no contract, you can get this smart projector which operates on Big Red’s LTE network directly from ZTE.
The Spro 2 is a compact and well-appointed device. It has a large 6300 mAh battery, good for more than three hours of continuous projection. Or, it can work as a hotspot connecting up to 8 users for 10 hours. The Spro 2 can project a screen up to 120 inches and provide a video quality of 720p HD (1280×720). It is bright too, up to 200 lumens manually adjustable.
Its technical specs are not far from those found on actual high-end portable devices, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB). It uses the Android 4.4 “KitKat” as an OS, which allows you to access Google Play™ store, Gmail™ and YouTube®. Since it has access to all the Google products, you can easily stream and project content from your Android smartphone or tablet.
